How does one Kill a Vampire Guardian Angel?

A. There are three ways:

1. A "good" Vampire Guardian Angel (there's only one left vs. thousands), or a Vampire Guardian Angel who has turned back to good.
2. As long as the "creator" Ms. Price is alive, nothing can kill the Vampire Guardian Angels as they can instantly heal or be healed by her. But there's a catch: If one kills the creator, the only angels who die are the ones who have had a blood pact with her (which explains why Ms. Price did not die when the Vampire Guardian Angel Zeke died-- they never made a blood pact. In the novel, he forcibly took her, but in comic book Issue 3, it was only implied.) And to date, there's only less than 5 who have (or who will make) the blood pact.
3. The blood of a "good" angel on a weapon. In issues 3 and 6, for instance, the "good" angel Cameron smeared his blood on his sword and on Detective Costa's machete, and in both instances, Costa was able to kill the Vampire Guardian Angel Zeke and one of the Angelorumrabidi.

How does a Human or a Vampire become a Vampire Guardian Angel?

A. There is so far one character (Issue 6) who becomes the first human to become a Vampire Guardian Angel instantly without dying and going to Heaven, where the transformation takes place. To become a Vampire Guardian Angel, a human or an Earth Vampire has to die, ascend to Heaven, be resurrected and bitten by a Vampire Guardian Angel, and then descend to Earth through a portal. It is possible to skip this process by having "physical relations" with the author, Ms. Price. One has to become "one with her" in “body and blood” through intercourse, and then be bitten by a Vampire or Vampire Guardian Angel (if one is human, that is. If one is already a vampire, it's not necessary to be bitten again, but the vampire would still have to drink Ms. Price's blood), and drink the reliquary potion of blood and gold immediately, so with that rare combination, a Vampire Guardian Angel is instantly “created”.  Ms. Price could instantly create a Vampire Guardian Angel with her own body, since she is technically the "creator" of the Vampire Guardian Angels (at least in writing through supernatural means). And in order for a Vampire Guardian Angel to become (almost) invincible, they will have to  have physical relations with her and mingle their blood with hers through a blood pact. So if one kills the creator, they all die as well. But as long as she’s alive, nothing can kill them as they can instantly heal or be healed by her, but if she dies, the only angels who die are the ones who have had a blood pact with her (which explains why Ms. Price did not die when the Vampire Guardian Angel Zeke died-- they never made a blood pact. In the novel, he forcibly took her, but in comic book Issue 3, it was only implied.) . But the only thing other thing that can kill an evil Vampire Guardian Angel is a good angel or one that has turned back to good.

New Artists for the Vampire Guardian Angels Comic Book Series

Now I can make the official announcement. I have some changes to the creative team working on Issue 6 and future issues of my Vampire Guardian Angels comic book series.

I want to do more than write and create stories for my comics. I started drawing lessons in August and am creating a new look for my Vampire Guardian Angels comic book series characters. The comics will still be in black, white, and red art but in more detail. And it will still be bloody!

I will be taking on drawing the line art for the comic book. It's a brand new challenge for me but I have been taking drawing lessons from a kick-ass instructor, Andrew Huerta, who will also be assisting and guiding me with the line art. The look and vibe of the comics will stay the same black, white and red art, with my own touches, but it will basically be the same as much as possible. Chad Hammontree will still be the colorist and letterer for the series. My former illustrator, Andrew Setter, has done an amazing job for the past 5 issues and it's time for us to move on.

And I'm officially introducing my new instructor and new comic book inker, Andrew Huerta. He will be assisting me every week on drawing, and he will do the official inking. I'm pretty much gonna have to draw every night and weekend and it's a little intimidating but I am up for the challenge. But given the level of talent of my instructor, I, and the comic book series, are in excellent hands. And yes, I want to start drawing my own comic book. It's about time that I did. The comics will look as badass as always. So not only am I a comic book creator and writer, I will also be an artist.

Welcome, Andrew Huerta, to my creative team. Please check out Andrew's awesome work. He's also doing a comic book of his own called "Sovereign", so check it out and show him some support!

The Official Creative Team for the Vampire Guardian Angels Comic Book Series
as of November, 2015:

Lia Scott Price, Creator/Writer/Artist
Chad Hammontree, Letterer/Colorist
Andrew Huerta, Artist/Inker

What is wrong with these Guardian Angels?

Everything. And not in a good way.

This is a comic book that questions the role of Guardian Angels, and turns them into something no one expects, and into something evil. The concept of Guardian Angels as evil vampires pushes the envelope in a “what if” situation.

The comic books force us to face the unthinkable. We always expect Guardian Angels to save, help and protect us. What we don’t expect is for them to commit acts like murder, violence, and other unexpected things. But in this comic book, they do.

The lesson here is that we do not know what Guardian Angels really are, and if they are even real. Pop culture insists they are, and this is where fiction and imagination comes in—to turn these “myths” into something else entirely. We as humans always rely on a higher power to save us, materialize and solve our problems. We put too much faith and reliance on the Supernatural. The problem is, we don’t know what entities we are summoning or praying to. It could be something dangerous, something that kills instead of helps us.

And my Guardian Angels are all sorts of wrong. They are complete psychopaths, sociopaths, rebels against their supposed assigned roles, and now, they are Vampires. And when you pray to one, they get angry. They get annoyed at our constant begging and whining to them. Now, they would rather put us out of our misery rather than help us, so now they can eat us as well as shut us up for good.

Dare to meet them?

Anatomy of a Serial Killer Vampire Guardian Angel

One of the main characters from my Vampire Guardian Angels comic book series, Gabriel, was the son of a poor farmer in the middle ages. His life was very unstable from the beginning, with the family losing their farm to famines. Disease and plagues decimated his once large extended family and forced his parents, his only surviving family members, to wander from farm to farm with their young son seeking work. In despair and hopelessness, his father turned to drinking and abandoned him and his mother. Gabriel was left with his domineering and very depressed and desperate mother, who forced her son into as much labor as he could handle, and beat him if he didn’t work often enough or fast enough. Gabriel was often depressed and even suicidal. He tried to jump off a high cliff once but stopped when he saw a group of knights practicing their sword-fighting in a meadow nearby. He decided that if he ever survived to adulthood, he would become a knight. It was wishful thinking.

Eventually his mother abandoned him too, by selling him to the Church. The once homeless Gabriel was housed in a monastery, where he was trained for fighting in a child army during the crusades. He was 10 years old. But he was extremely intelligent, and during that time he was quite good at sword play, thinking he would be wielding a real sword and fulfilling his dream of becoming a knight. Even as a child, he had an uncontrollable anger, and lashed out at other children, and was too violent at practice. He never got along with anyone, and was constantly isolated. Everyone, even the adults, feared him. He was also masochistic, feeling delight in torturing the other boys at the monastery, venting his rage at them whenever the anger, loneliness, and other dark feelings hit. So the Church leaders decided to put him in the front lines. Gabriel felt proud at that moment, thinking they were making him a knight. But instead, he was given….a wooden one. Feeling betrayed, he dropped the sword to the ground as the opposing army came towards him. He died instantly, killed by an adult soldier as he cried out, first to his parents to come and protect him, and then to Heaven to send his guardian angel to save him.

The now-adult  and reincarnated and traumatized Gabriel the Guardian Angel often has vivid flashbacks of this moment, always after he hears prayers of the despairing that he has to answer, and his rage takes over, consisting of a deep hatred for those who abandoned him and to Heaven for not saving him. Instead of becoming a knight like he dreamed when he was a child, he became a guardian angel, but he saw himself as a slave, forced to save humans when he himself was not saved, and he had flashbacks of his mother, who treated him like a slave. And this anger led him to become a serial killer. He often fantasized about having full control of humans and being able to destroy them to get back at them for the trauma they caused him. And soon he planned how to get rid of the humans he was supposed to protect when he first became a guardian angel, making his murders look like accidents and suicides, since he was still bound by Heaven’s rules and was trying not to be caught by God’s watchful eye. Since at first he was forbidden to touch humans to harm them, he used hypnosis and mind control to make humans harm themselves.

All that changed when he became a vampire. He was free of Heaven’s rules and bonds and was free to destroy humans at will. He wanted to do everything a guardian angel was forbidden to do such as rape and murder. He hunted down his victims throughout their prayers of despair and calls of help to a guardian angel. His goal was to shut them up so he would not have to listen to them anymore. He hated humans—he no longer wanted to serve them and had a deep fear that he would be forced to go back to saving them unless he got rid of them. So he tracked down his victims after homing in on their prayers, and feeding off of humans as well.

And he’s still out there…waiting for you to summon him. And he’s not the only one. Guardian Angels have now turned into serial killers and vampires. They don’t want to help or save humans anymore. They want to control, get rid of, and eat them instead. Meet the new serial killer. Be careful who you pray to.

FAQ: How can evil Vampires turn a Guardian Angel evil?

Q. So technically, something evil, such as a vampire, cannot affect something good, such as a guardian angel, because holiness supposedly cancels out or destroys evil, right?

A. But there’s a loophole. If a supposedly “good” guardian angel is already resentful and disillusioned about their “job” of having to stay good towards humans, and if they rebel and start doing bad things to humans on purpose, then yes, they can be affected by evil. They see a way out of their 'jobs" by becoming vampires. Then yes, evil vampires can take over something holy such as guardian angels.

My Vampire Guardian Angels take advantage of Humans’ Dependence on a “Higher Power”

Humans have always believed that they have to call on or rely upon a supernatural “higher power” or “being” to save them. But what if that “higher power” was evil? What if something supposedly good, such as a guardian angel, was out to harm, or, eat humans? Do we know who we are really summoning?

Have you ever actually seen a guardian angel? Do you really know what they are or what they look like other than the pop-culture versions so often seen in paintings and statues?

That’s what my characters take advantage of—that reliance and trust. When we call upon these unseen beings to “save us” —who really comes?

Your guardian angel, right?

Right?

Well, actually, they have a new look now. And a new deadly purpose. To eat humans. We now live to serve them. They no longer serve us. Meet a new breed of vampire and guardian angel. Meet my Vampire Guardian AngelsTM . Oh, and don’t pray. Because although they hate our desperate prayers for help, they actually track us down. As a meal.

My vampires will change the way you see your guardian angel.

Bringing the Bad-Ass back into Vampires

To me, there’s been a rather disturbing evolution of Vampires from fearsome creatures to soap opera love interests that focuses more on love stories, teen angst, and "feelings”. I missed the B-movie, gothic horror, psychological thriller, hideous, violent and bloody, genuinely scary, frightening, and creepy vampire films that made them dark, fearsome creatures to begin with, not love interests.  So that’s why I created my vampire comic book series and why I make my vampires so disturbing. They are a combination of the "old school" scary vampires with my own twist. I've created a new breed of vampire and I hope to bring that brutality back to the horror genre.

Have a look at my Vampires. Why did a guardian angel become a vampire? Because they want to be. They've become "Vampire Guardian Angels". They want power and immortality. They no longer want to serve man---they would rather eat man. For them, it's a lot better to become an evil monstrosity rather than a good servant to humans. Becoming a vampire makes it easier for them to get rid of humans, so they won't have to answer prayers anymore. As guardian angels, they could not kill human. But now as a vampire-angel hybrid, they can slice and dice and eat humans all they want.

Gloriously gruesome, aren't they? :)

The Perfect Serial Killer and Vampire

Lia Scott Price's Vampire Guardian AngelsTM : The Perfect Serial Killer and Vampire

Are you ready to meet your Guardian Angel? He’s not very nice. And he’s now a brutal, vicious, merciless, terrifying Vampire.

Meet a new breed of vampire: a disturbing hybrid of guardian angel and vampire, making the perfect serial killer….and vampire.

How are they serial killers?
These are angels with serious psychopathic and homicidal issues. They do things no one ever expects a Guardian Angel to do. So because everyone thinks they are good angels, they can stalk humans and not be suspect. Like serial killers, they enjoy making their human victims suffer,  get power from determining who lives or dies,  torture and toy with their victims, and prefer to eliminate humans, specifically those who pray to them for help, who they see as weak and who need to be put out of their misery. They play God on Earth. But they can only target the people who believe in them, who call to them for help. They answer “prayers” by putting people out of their misery, or enslaving them and doing horrific things to humans. And making a meal of them.

Their reasoning:
Vampire Guardian Angels will tell you that Heaven is one big broken home filled with abandoned former humans, a holy halfway house for souls that have become angels, where suffering and martyrdom are required if you want to earn your place in "paradise".  Instead of finding peace, angels find that they are put to work saving humans. And if angels don't conform to their “jobs”, they are cast down by the "Father" and abandoned as punishment. (And yes, they have serious abandonment issues. They were killed or martyred on Earth, and God did nothing to save THEM.) So what you have are paranoid, resentful, traumatized, angry, and rebellious angels who are forced to become therapists and bodyguards to God's "favorites", his humans.

And that, folks, is why the characters in Lia's vampire comic book series hate humans, why they resent their "jobs" of having to protect humans. It's like giving a murderous paranoid schizophrenic a job of being a babysitter. They want to rule over humans instead of serve them.

Vampire Guardian Angels want to play God, and they want everything that was denied to them--sex, riches, power. They use charm and seduction and pretend to care and trick their victims into thinking they are there to save them. but these angels no longer have empathy for humans and no guilt for killing them. They see it as their right to perform "mercy killing" of the desperate, depressed,  weak, and suicidal. They follow their own rules. In their book, the whiners, the ones who beg and ask for help the most, will die.

Vampire Guardian Angels see it this way: if they kill those humans who whine to them, it shuts them up so the angels don't have to answer prayers anymore. So it cuts down on their jobs, because millions of prayers do add up, and when they can't keep up, the only way is to get rid of those who pray for good. It's easier to just kill humans instead of try to constantly solve their problems.

At first, they were worried that God is still watching, so the angels have to be sly, when they were first serial killers and before they were vampires. They had to make it look like an accident, or a suicide, to take suspicion off the angel. This was also because they could not physically touch humans so they had to appear as someone helpful and use hypnosis to make people kill themselves.

They now enjoy being vampires.
And it just gets worse. After these serial-killing guardian angels became Vampires, they could now physically touch and harm humans without the need for hypnosis. And they became all-powerful supernatural monsters. But they are still angels, and it is in their nature to have to answer prayers. But it’s to their advantage, because prayers act as a “homing device” to their victims. And when you pray to one, well, you get eaten. And humans can't kill them. They are invincible to what is supposed to kill traditionally kill vampires,  so forget the stake through the heart thing, and because they are considered "holy", they can't be killed with traditional "holy water and crosses" methods. Or sunlight. They're celestial. They sleep in churches. Sometimes they are disguised as life-sized angel statues. Never, ever be alone in a church at night.

So do you really know who you're praying to? Don't depend on a supernatural being to save you. You don't know who you're summoning.

So what will “save” you from them?
You better “pray” that you find a still-good guardian angel, or one that had turned back to good. Because that’s the only thing that will save you. And oh, you’re safe as long as you don’t pray in despair to a guardian angel, and if you don’t believe in them, then you can’t summon them. And if they’ve taken over Earth, at least you can still hide from them. Just don’t reveal your location by praying.

What is a Vampire Guardian Angel?

Q. Why is there a "Guardian Angel" in the Comic Series title? These aren't "Guardian Angels", are they?
A. Vampire Guardian Angels are Guardian Angels who have been bitten by Vampires, and so they have turned into Vampires, but they are still functioning as Guardian Angels in that they still respond to prayers -- but this time prayers are a "homing device" towards their food: "praying humans".

So yes they are Guardian Angels, but they are now a hybrid of evil Vampire and regular used-to-be-holy Guardian Angel.

Q and A about Vampire Guardian Angels Part 4

Q: Why does it take so long to make a comic book?
A: It’s a long process due to the fact that my artists and I work long distance and we all have full-time day jobs, so we work on the comic book when we can. This is indie/underground publishing, but we put out the best product that we can. We prefer quality over commercial  cookie-cutter production.
Once he receives the script, my artist Andrew does the initial drawing and inking by hand, which can take months due to the meticulous detail. Andrew sends me preliminary sketches for approval. Once that is done, Chad starts coloring and adds text which is a faster process. The final process is my proofreading and editing, then back to Chad for changes, and so on. It takes about a couple of weeks after that for publishing and printing, so a full year is about average per comic book. But judging by the reactions to the artwork, the wait is worth it! But this is what makes them so rare and collectible — like a fine work of art or vampire wine :) I guess you would call it an artisan comic book.

Update: Andrew Setter is now the former artist and has worked on Issues 1-5. Lia Scott Price will be the new artist for Issue 6 and future issues. She will be working with a creative consultant and art instructor.

Q: What’s next for the Comic Book Series?
A: I’m going to now be drawing all the art for Issue 6 and future sequels and issue. I have a creative consultant and art instructor who will be assisting me. So I am adding my new title of "artist" in addition to being the comic book creator and writer.

Q: What’s next for the characters?
A. My characters continue to evolve, and I’m always continuing to develop them.

Q and A about Vampire Guardian Angels Part 3

Q. How do Vampire Guardian Angels travel between heaven and earth?
A. They use the portals of other angels who are killed by either Cameron or Janos (when he was still good) or Detective Costa (who uses a piece of Cameron's sword with his blood--a weapon with the blood of a good angel and owned by a good angel). Janos also later caused the death of angels using the plague in earth to create more portals to bring more Vampire Guardian Angels down from Heaven.

In addition, male babies who die on Earth resurrect in Heaven as full-grown angels, are bitten by the Vampire Guardian Angels, and become part of the Vampire Guardian Angel army.

Q.  How do Vampire Guardian Angels control Earth Vampires?
A. They enslave humans for food and provide then to earth vampires -- in other words, earth vampires don't have to work for their food. They now rely on the Vampire Guardian Angels--their new masters-- to feed them as long as they do what the angels want them to do, including becoming part of their army on Earth. The earth vampires also cannot kill or harm a Vampire Guardian Angel since they are more powerful, so they fear them.

Q. What is the Vampire Guardian Angel society and hierarchy like?
A. Vampire Guardian Angels still go by a medieval, feudalist society and system where they are ruled by a King, and must loyally obey and follow. The nobles act as right-hand men and army captains, the rest are soldiers. The nobles and royalty doled out humans or material goods such as guns, swords and jewelry or gold as rewards. A fealty oath is taken during the homage to the newly ordained ruler. Technically only a royal could become ruler, but so could a Vampire Guardian Angel who possessed great power (such as Joseph’s “power of light” and Cameron’s ability to stop angels from ascending) and whoever possessed the author Ms Price, in combination with those powers.

This is NOT a “Religious Comic Book”

I’ve noticed (and been told that) that some people who see the title of my comic book series are under the impression that this is a comic book about Guardian Angels — the traditional holy, “good” angels who "save" us, and that it is a religious comic book filled with loving angels with white wings who save humans. This is definitely NOT that kind of comic book. And it is definitely NOT the “Vampires as romantic saviors and guardian angels that become a hero and protector” type of comic book.

People may get misled by the title, but I think the bloody covers say it all.

There is one thing this comic book totally IS: It is bloody. It is brutal. it is about the classic, vicious, violent, scary vampires who are nightmarish, horrific, and evil. It’s a horror comic book series filled with darkness and despair, WTF characters, psychotic, narcissistic and psychopathic vampires, dismemberment, sharp objects, slicing, dicing and screaming. And sorry, not much romance. So if you’re looking for the stereotypical angels with white wings strumming harps and hugging people, dammit you got the wrong comic book. \m/

Oh, and there is NO harp music either—just metal: death metal, black metal, and more metal (band cameos, that is.)

Hope this clears it up!
